Was working in Bend, but had a couple of hours in the a.m. Tues, so Regine and I headed to Mt. Batcherlor--skied out, icy-crusty, etc. so we said it sucks and headed to Dutchman Flats, skinned up and climbed Tumalo (1400 vf) in about 55 min and skied down thru the trees in wonderful powder! Fantastic; got back to Bend in time to shower, lunch, and go back to work at 1 p.m. Thought we'd repeat the event 2X Wed, but warm daytime temps had caused mucho snow & ice to fall off the trees and existing ski tracks had turned crunchy; so we just did one run about 60% good and 40% sucks. abc
That's a fun little butte! The west (?) bowl is fantastic, I hit it in deep powder conditions on Thanksgiving. ;D
