I took a mental health day today on 8 Mile Mtn.  I needed a break, an escape from stimulus package, bank bailout, O'Bama, auto industry, mortgages and recession.  Respite from concerns, issues and Famlink.  Out there today, I heard nary a snow machine, nor heard the words Blagojevich and Burris.  My target was ascend the south slope of 8 Mile Mtn, then ski the N.E. Face, which I did last year with excellent results.  Today was no different.

Perfect skinning up the south side in warm sun, and gorgeous preserved powder on the northeast face.  It did get crusty at the bottom, but who cares when all you're doing is traversing outta there.  Got back to the car at a luxurious 4.30pm, and drove back to Wenatchee with the radio turned off.
A few more photos:

This is what the northeast side looks like, by the way...

Not all of us make it out alive...

That shot of the NE face looks super sick.

Just goes to show that great trip reports are recession proof.  Thanks for the escape - makes me want to move to Wenatchee!

Any idea of origin and type of critter bits?
Signs of struggle with bigger/faster/stronger critter?

How long did this tour take, car to car?

Nice pictures and a terrific solo effort!

BREATH TAKING--THANKS FOR THE TR!!!!

My guess was a dog, judging by the teeth??  The errie part was, this wasn't there in the morning on the way up.  Also strange there was no sign of struggle, nor any other body parts.  There were what looked like cat prints around it though.

I left the car at 6.45am, and got back at 4.30pm.  Being able to ski the entire road on the way down sped things up.  The bare patches are now covered again.
