A week in Rogers Pass. We're here you're not
« on: 02/07/09, 04:59 PM »

Day 1 - 2009_02_06

CONDITIONS: Some preserved surface hoar from a few weeks ago resulted in whoomphs on SE slopes in isolated pockets. This disappeared on E slopes closer to the Puff Daddy side. We ran laps as visibility up high was poor and had good knee deep pow with isolated pockets of oh -wow that was deep.

8am at visitor centre tomorrow eldo - going for shorter day.

Today 2009 - 02 - 07 - Swiss - Hermit

Straight up then straight down in pow culminating with untouched knee to waist deep pow lines 40 - 45 degrees down to highway. It was adequate for our needs

Wind-hammered up high.  Aborted bootpack to Mt Rogers as snow was zero boot pen and would have been problematic climb plus lousy ski down.  Elected to ski down via Hermit

Lee,

Thanks for keeping the spirit alive for those of us who are riding the keyboard.  They are forecasting a half inch of new overnight in the Central Cascades.  Cry

terrible grooming savegondor.

It was a good day to break Wilkez cooler cherry.  Stability was VERY GOOD.  Visibility close to unlimited.

We were joined by Dan, walked up to Cheops 4 slidepath and skied the STS couloir.  700m of 45 degree slope.

Definitely adequate for my needs

Lee's trip reports are incredibly inspirational and have done me a lot of good, especially when I was far away from mountains or during lengthy periods of homesickness and related depression.

My ability to publish trip reports is very limited for a variety of reasons but, like Lee, I do try and make a contribution to this community.

Lee contributes a lot of valuable photographs, route information, snowpack information, and generally is one of the bright lights of the backcountry ski scene.

Dear Skier-X and Alpymarr

the "we're here, you're not" was meant to be a joke to friends who should be skiing but are instead stuck in the prairies.

Sorry you are all butthurt about it.

More snow reports to follow for you lahar dar my delicious stalker fan

Personally, I enjoy seeing somebody else catching flak for a few loose words written in glee on the interwebz.  So here's some empathy from me.  Thanks for being the whipping boy!

Glad you're having a good time out there, Lee.  I have to visit Parc National des Glaciers myself one of these days.

Ditto as per the other messages of support Lee, and glad to see you are pushing the boundaries on the photo limit on this site. No need to start that discussion again( but what the hell!), 3 photos ain't enough and the rules need to be changed! WORD!!!

Looks like Lee put TAY on ignore after he was doused with haterade and his photos got moderated.  Fair enough though, he was breaking the rules.  For those who want to see more, he posted more pictures on TGR.
