w/Anita, Brad, Andy and Comet (a dog). Started at Granite/Pratt Lake TH at 10:20AM. Ascended XC on snow to Pratt Lake Trail, walked snow-covered trail for awhile, left trail to ascend SW ridge of West Granite via booting then skinning. Nice travel in lovely montane above 4400'. Topped out at subsummit (c. 5197') SSE of West Granite (Pt. 5566).
We saw one set of fresh boot tracks to/from subsummit. Had approx. 600 verts of good turns on a few inches of lee slope pow to basin S of West Granite, then supportable crust w/some occasional drift pockets on traverse to standard Granite ski descent. Snow in woods was 1/2" on boilerplate. Deskied at 2900', booted down from there. We saw several hikers and one knuckle dragger descending from Granite.
Lots of weird was temporary stream course washouts resulting from the big rains of a few weeks ago.
Lovely day. Nice company. Good workout. We need more snow!
