In lieu of tough snow times lately and the innability to buy a ski pass to Crystal or even access Rainier, SB Graham and I wanted to see how the new snow was shaping things up around Xtal. Anticipating the inbounds carnage, the Southback was the best option. Left the lot after seeing Jay Buhner and skinned up Quicksilver to an avy debris stricken dogleg and associated bowls. Not pleased we decided that maybe the other side of the valley held some promise. De-skinned and headed for the cat track under the chute. Headed up the east face of the king and summited that, checked the frontside...yuck.....silver? ok.... I guess. Dropped in north side of silver to more avi debris and fake me out freshies. All in all the day was beautiful, much needed outside and excersise time. Snow conditions.....meh....we need a super dump to get things back in order. Top 4 inches propagating large cracks and sliding when you intice it. We need snow...badly...and alot of it.
