Wow, big thanks to RK for letting us know East was in good shape for skiing.  We had heard horror stories of bulletproof ice around Crystal Mt, but this weather makes for challenging study of topo maps and telemetry.  How much easier it is in these days of realtime data availability, and thanks to Garth, Mark, Kenny, and more for making sure the stations are in working order, Charles for putting it all in one place, and Amar for the ten day telemetry history script!

Anyway, we found excellent corn 2 to 3 inch deep skiing off the summit of East Peak at 3PM with some great kids on burly skis, Megawatt or some such, wider than splitboard skis I think.  There was almost no wind, temps must have been around 50 degrees.  Toughest skiing was the icy final 200 feet to the car.  Definitely Juneuary.   Enjoy it while it lasts, perhaps until Saturday.
Glory, Silas... is that three days in a row, or four?  Four, I think... more than that?

Silas enjoying East Peak corn!

That looks like some good conditions under bluebird, Awesome!

Hey Silas - how about a thanks to the NWAC for making data available in the first place!!! :D Your chum, Garth

Garth, you are absolutely right!  Thanks to your team for sure.

Great skiing with you the other day, Silas. Just got back from a three day hut trip off Kootenay Pass with Julie and the rest of our housemates and am happy to report that north faces are holding strong despite recent warming. Give a holler if and when you come out this way. Happy retirement!
