Went up Van Trump yesterday to about 8200'. We took a run down to the nisqually gl. and back to the bridge. It smelled like spring.
The approach could be somewhat of a pain for skinners. Also we forgot our map, but luckily we picked a good route down. A little left or right in several areas could get you into some serious sketch.

Is the rider in the photo riding with and ice ax in his/her hand?
Yes, that be me and my axe; a very comforting way to ride on steep slopes esp. when cliffs and crevasses lurk below. Van Trump was fabulous butter snow pretty much top to bottom Saturday with no wind and shorts and t-shirt climbing attire 8).
