We took our pre teen boys up Tonga Ridge to the first switchback, a couple miles.  The snow was 2 inches new on top of a breakable crust.  Trying turns was character building at best, but we had a good time.  We enjoyed the company of Rusty Knees and his family.  The kids had a great time, and it was nice to get out.  Weather was great.
Happy New Year to All.

Welcome to TAY Joe! Not sure if you, or anyone will see this reply...but glad to see you posting a Trip Report. Just a reminder: my Karhus are yours to borrow if you want to try something wider under foot. Cheers!
