I toured up a trail starting from the Nooksack Rd (1800 ft) and ending more than 1100 meters higher.  It's low angle all the way and mostly in big tree old forest.  Conditions are perfect powder. It really couldn't be better.  There's a good snowshoe track in up the trail, but little sign of skiers.

With a cautious eye to avy conditions we found a great day out in the lower elevation trees. Following Steve's cryptic hint here we found some fun, sometimes open, sometimes tight trees coming down from Excelsior Peak. We worked our way thru some cliffs and turned down a nice pillow line in favor of safe descent for the whole team.
We started at 10 am (1500’) and gained the 5300' ridge around 1pm.
Thanks to Steve for putting the skin track up! We followed your track down and found a dropped item. You sure took an interesting line that we hooked up with and followed. Steve, please touch base in personal messaging here.

Interesting?  Many possibilities there.  But how did you climb onto those downed trees with snowboards?

I guess my early snowboarding years in the park helped with the downed tree navigation. Wink I expect that a harder left or right line might yield a more open run thru the trees.
