after last week's deviant snow, we felt the need to reaquaint ourselves with our gool ol' pwn skiing conditions. not quite ready for the shock, we started slowly with a quick tour to herman saddle.

alas, our hopes for quickly getting back in the groove of things were dashed as we arrived to sunny, warm and calm weather at the ski area...i guess sleet blowing sideways will have to wait for another time...

saw a huge impressive crown off n side of table, as well as a couple of smaller ones, couple of days old. things were sloughing like mad off the s side of herman, which was in the sun, but otherwise stable conditions.

skiing off the saddle, we encountered a couple of inches of best quality pnw mashed potatoes, which actually made for some fun turns...you see, we were expecting a lot worse. things got less fun lower down but let's leave it at that... back at the car, made a mad dash for fish tacos at grahams. if you haven't had those yet, consider yourself lucky, you have one less addiction to worry about.
Ema: I was at the Baker Ski area on 1/11, and saw the glisten shining off of some of that nice rain crust. Even had the wonderful opportunity to ski thru some avy debris off n. face of Pan Dome. Glad someone's out spankin' the mank!!!
