I have learned that when it snows and blows just right from the northeast, the southwest bowl on my roof gets pretty loaded. After the third storm this month, the snow was over my furnace exhaust vent and close to covering my hot water heater vent. Thus, it was time to climb up and do some clearing. Of course, no self respecting backcountry skier would ever climb something snow covered without also considering a descent on skis.
I could get no other takers so I did this trip solo. Snow stability was good and the trip up was short, but steep.

After clearing the two vents ...

it was time to put tracks in the hanging southwest bowl, and link it to the valley below. Obviously, I didnt descend from the true summit ¦maybe tomorrow.

How's the gutter? :).
trumpetsailor,
Gutters pose no problems - just jump a bit.
With 8 inches of new on Christmas Day, we pretty much tracked out the whole west side of Roof Peak. However, I am ready to retire from urban skiing in favor of real mountains.
