WOW.  Sorry no photo's but, WOW!
You gotta give up a little more than that...

Sorry. I was just blown away by the terrain, views, snow, access, etc. etc.
Last night brought about 15cm of new snow, and cold temp's definitely dried out the existing snowpack.  Met a fellow in parking lot who was also heading up solo, and we toured up to Balu Pass.  As we gained elevation, the snow got deeper, and softer.  Hit the pass and wandered up the 8812 ridge.  Good snow, good day.  More tomorrow.  Shit, I have the next month off...where am I going?

Mmmmm, that's better... thanks!  Bring some of that stuff down south.

more great skiing in Rogers Pass, version 12.4.2008 = Asulkan
It was empty compared to the Balu Pass area, only a few cars in the lot, and I only saw two other skiers.  Clouds moved in in the afternoon, and the area got dark and cold fast.  More snow on the way.

12.5.2008 Coffee shops, Christmas music, oh and this...

25cm new snow over night. some wind loading on north, northeast aspects. a lot of people out but not many in the alpine. I hooked on with a group of 3 from Calgary and toured up Balu Pass. Pits revealed storm snow instabilities and an easy shear at 40cm with the new load. Ski'd low angle aspects from the pass, with heavier density snow really making it slow. Bailed after 3 trips up and saw a pretty large slide path that had release and slid through the trail up. Lots of people standing around clueless to upslope hazards.

If I could send this home, I would.

Home, sweet home
