trying to complete my first TAY year and thought I would miss my August day but everything lined up just right... wife wanted to go for a hike, not sure where, so as she perused WTA trip reports I threw my ski gear in the car, crossed my fingers and... bingo! sounds like Vesper peak would be a good hike with some potential bonus skiing material.
Trail runners stayed almost totally dry all the way to the top as we passed hordes of "mountaineers" with their shiny new gear, few of whom that had anything positive to say about me being up there with skis. Chalking the negative vibes up to petty jealosy, we pushed on to the summit.
There was a good continuous run from the saddle south of the summit all the way to the col between Vesper and Sperry. Did a couple laps on this snow patch and just cause I was there downclimbed about 20' of rock to get on to the Vesper Glacier. It was hard corn suncups, but a novel run for me that I'd been itching to do so I can't complain.
From Vesper-Sperry col, we downclimbed through the cliff bands where I found a nice snow finger that took me about 400' down to the outlet stream for Vesper Lake.
Good day out, mostly hiking with a little extra workout, but worth it to get this month covered!

Nice going Alpenho! It's good to hear a non-volcanoe report for August turns. Good luck with with the streak.
