Kenny Z. and I have been wanting to get get out and look for some snow close to home.
We hiked the from Obstruction Point south staying on the high ridges hoping to find a place to get some turns in. It was not looking good. We reached the end of the way tail and had a nice view of Moose Lk and Grand Lk.
Moose Head has one nice snow field worth hiking to. Steep and approx. 1000vf.  We didn't have enough time to hike down over and up to it, So we decided to enjoy the piece and quite for a little while then check out one of the snow fields we noticed driving in close to the road.
Yes, there is short but sweet snow fields five minutes from Obsruction Point rd. The snow has small sun cups and was firm.
This makes 10 consecutive months of dancing on my tele's and I'm liking it.  ;D
I just skied that same slope today.  It was the same slope that I got my July turns on, though it was MUCH larger a month ago.  It's still good, and I predict that it will be around in September.  Imagine that....skiing right next to the road in the Olympics in September.  Who woulda thunk?

Easy access patches in the fall are quite cool.
