As there's a mini-TR over in the Road Conditions thread, and some photos came out well, I figured I'd bump it over here as well.
We walked the road to Mowich Lake, toured up to Knapsack Pass, into Mist Park, back over Knapsack, skied to Mowich Lake, and skied/walked to the car. See the Mini-TR for more detail. While the gate opened up while we were there, apparently it's not open now/according to the NPS.
Great to meet Scottk and admire his tracks on Fay Peak.
Road photo's of Will just ~100m shy of the lake. Last photo's of Mist Park. We skied the shady vertical snowpatch, then traversed to the looker's left avy chute. It was fun, but there are better lines into that basin.

Thanks for the great report and pictures ! What's incredible about the pictures is the amount of snow in the road pic vs the lack of snow and scree scramble under OB rock to link onto the eastern Flett . Ive never seen it happen in that sequence before. At least in the 15 years ive been glassing it from house in Sumner.

Good to meet Trumpetsailer and Will. Glad you guys found some lines over in Mist Park.
I have to second Robie's comment regarding the abundance of snow at lower elevations compared with the relatively dry conditions up higher.

Emailed NPS regarding road opening. This is the ranger's response:
I contacted the Carbon River Ranger Station and was informed that it is slated to open sometime this coming Saturday, July 19th. If you would like to double check before you come you can call the Ranger Station at (360) 829-9639 to verify. Again, thank you for your interest!
