This is a forwarded report. Yesterday I was doing Thanksgiving, but Kevin and Roger were skiing a 6000vf day. Four runs on E side of Lutefisk Ridge into Cement Basin, including one down the Hourglass (site of last December's avalanche fatality). Pit showed two feet of new, consolidating powder well-bonded to a rain crust. No avalanche activity. Only one other party and they were skiing N side of Bullion Peak. Fairly warm and no wind. As I look out the window at the rain and at the Internet at the warm telemetry reports, I know I missed a good day.
Good info, Brent.
So is that the name for the east ridge containing Norse Pk, East Pk, and Hauser... Lutefisk Ridge?
You old pros have all kinds of cool goodies for us...
So what's the story behind that name?

Nothing complicated, Ron. Eric Feigl tells me it was named that by Dave Knutson because of its proximity to Norse (Norsk) Peak.
Eric and Dave were skiing partners of Joe Firey. They were making first ski ascents in the Cascades and Coast Range decades ago.
