K and I headed up to Colchuck Lake to check out the Colchuck Glacier. We put on boots at the south side of the lake and were able to stay on snow for the duration except for maybe 30 ft of rubble scrambling. Good snow for booting. Saw two climbers that were able to make it to the base of their climb (Serpentine Arete) in their trail runners. We didn't need crampons all the way up.
At the col K and I split up. I headed up to the summit of Colchuck while K climbed and traversed over to Dragontail. After a nap back at the col we headed down just after noon. GREAT cruising snow and fun skiing all the way down to the lake. Getting a little boney for the last couple hundred feet at the bottom though.
Super fun day except for almost stroking out from the heat getting back to the cars. Fortunately I was saved by a cooler full of cold beer we had stashed at the trailhead.
