Lassen still has good conditions; runnels are starting to become more pronounced. With the warm temps., the snow is not setting up at night and the surface is quite smooth. Quite a treat.
The butterflies reappeared this weekend, and they were buzzing the summit. They might be attracted with the air currents up there! Signing out from the southernmost Cascade.
Butterflies are awesome. Saw just a few around timberline on Adams this weekend. I can't wait 'till they're swarming up high here in Washington...

Thanks bro - I guess they do go North, because I don't see them down where I live Reno/Tahoe. Thanks alot, enjoy the turns! Rob

I saw a bunch of butterflies on Mt. Mcloughlin last week too.  Is this a regular thing every summer?

I've been skiin' Shasta/ Lassen for 12 seasons and you can actually be driving along in the Lassen area and you'll see a small cloud -- and the poor things will be smeared on your windshield. July is the season for butterflies.
