Baker Easton Glacier 6/26-27

We got up to 8800', did not summit despite excellent conditions due to a number of learning experiences.  A notable ones was that booters and skiers roped together on a glacier does not work so well.  Also, it was an error to try to do the trip overnight without camping - this could have worked if we had been rested, but everyone have been working before we met and set out at 6 PM.

But great scenery and plenty of good exercise, amazing starry night, moonrise, and then sunrise, ending with a 5700' continuous ski descent, taking skis off at the car.  What an amazingly fun ski route, that in its current condition can be skinned up and skied down for 100%, at least as far as we got at 8800' and presumably beyond at least as far as the base of the Roman Wall.

Met TAYer Chris Mosetick for the first time (thank you so much for the board).  Chris is strong and enthusiastic - he is the one who did not want to turn around.  Two booters Paul and Dave joined us.

The road can be driven to within 150 vf of the trailhead, melting fast and the trailhead will presumably be drivable by the end of the weekend.  The sled infestation continues but should be abated extremely soon due to sunny days ahead.  Some crevasses are opening up but were easy to spot and go around as far as we went.  Where we stopped at 8800', we were looking at a major crevasse with a snow bridge.  It is possible that this will become a significant obstacle.
