We went down to Diamond for the day on Sunday. The road to Pioneer Gulch and Corrigan Lake is clear of snow all the way.

Started hiking up at about 10:00am and hit snow at around 5,000'. The snow was still reasonably firm in the shade so we booted, rather than skinned. The skeeters weren't too obnoxious: the bug juice must have worked.

We booted up the Left Center bowl

Reached the summit about 2 and enjoyed the breeze and scenery before dropping in.

Dan skis from near the summit.

We were able to drop into the top of the Beak Creek drainage on the north side for some turns before heading back west and down the way we came up. The snow up high was really nice, but got runnelled as we descended. We found a gully that had some snow down low and were able to follow it to about 1/4 mile from the car.

Sweet!  I was wondering how the Diamond routes were holding up.  It looks like you found some good snow.  It'll probably go pretty fast with the upcoming hot weather expected.  Did you go from Corrigan Lk?

We park at a log landing a little south of the Pioneer Gulch trail head. It's a little higher in elevation than PG (maybe 2-300 feet). There's no trail, but the bushwhacking isn't too bad.

;D

We were heading out the same day you hiked in. After two nights and two great days of skiing on the "Little Big mountain!"

Our first turns are in the upper right of your shot heading into the north headwall.....

Still lots of great skiing this summer on the north side!
