November 20, 2003, Heather Ridge

Lots of new snow over a rain soaked base of 2' at the pass, increasing to perhaps 3' towards the top.  The deep snow made trail breaking strenuous and slowed progress, but with three people and a snow cat it wasn't too bad.  We took three delightful runs towards the highway, delicately balanced and pointed straight down the fall line to maximize speed and faceshots in the deep snow.  The prospect of very thick tree/alder skiing and more trail breaking was somehow appealing, so we decided to ski down to the PCT and follow it back to the pass.  The skiing this weekend should be marvelous, so get out and enjoy it!
