June 2 Alpental backcountry

Went out to the Alpental ski area and parked at the far end of the parking lots.  Skinned out to the backcountry and quickly turned up the south side of the canyon.  Probably would have been easier to skin up the runs and traverse across but it's nice to be off the beaten path.  Skiied a few runs below the cliff bands of Hemlock peak.  The snow was fine for a cloudy day and no freezing the night before.  There was 6 to 9 inches of mashed potatos in places but mostly decent skiing.  Still a lot of snow out there especially on those northerly aspects.  The lower south side of Snoqulmie mountain is getting pretty spotty, lots of bear ground.  Always a great time in the snow covered mountains!
