October 26, 2003, Paradise Glacier

OK, we chose to go for a little adventure on the Paradise glacier.  We hoofed it up to about 8900, then cut over below the 'shrund.  The skiing was actually quite nice, as with the schmear snowfield some of the snow from the last storm had held out.  We skied down to about 7900, right above the 'iron curtain', choosing a line that was a little more 'fall line' than the ridge route skied by a few in September.  Of course this increased the adventure points of the trip with some zig zagging for bridges.  We decided against trying to cross the iron curtain and bailed out to the right at about 7900.  We were able to ski the edge of the glacier down to about 7500 with only one short carry.

Note:  If you expect it to be really crappy, it's easy to be pleased.
