How I got started skiing year-round: Seemed like the thing to do. My friends and I did it on a whim and as the streak kept going.......... Criteria for what counts as a ski trip: Used to be 1000 feet. Since global warming, not so much. Biggest threat to my streak: A brutal tree pruning back injury in July. Luckily someone helped me put my boots on and carried my shit in and out. Type of equipment I use: Stockli. Only Stockli. Strategy for skiing through the low season: Enjoy the hike. Bring some Guinness. Worst and best backcountry ski trips: Worst - September on St. Mary's Glacier (Colorado). It's so bad that time of year given the garbage, dirt, ice and hair. Yes, hair. We call it St. Furry's. Best - Easy. Fourth of July on Sundance Mountain, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Skiing activities in the past year: Colorado ski hills. Rocky Mountain backcountry. Mt. Hood to avoid the dirty ice of August and September. |
