| Information about the display of this web site:
This web site has been designed for a minimum monitor resolution of 800x600 pixels, typical of a 15" monitor. A higher resolution (such as 1024x768) will work best to display information pages in the main window, but a smaller one (such as 640x480) will cut off the right side of the pages and will necessitate frequent horizontal scrolling (bad). If you have a not-too-ancient computer system, you can probably change the resolution setting for your monitor (look in "Control Panels" for "Monitors and Sound" or "Display"). This web site looks best at a color depth of thousands or millions of colors. Only older computers will be limited to 256 colors, which will cause the background and images in this web site to look very grainy. Newer computers will be capable of thousands or millions of colors, but the color depth can get changed to 256 colors by programs you run, which may fail to change the setting back when you quit the program (some kids' games seem to do this). To change the setting, again look in "Control Panels" for "Monitors and Sound" or "Display". Some of your browser's settings can make this web site display improperly. These settings are typically accessed while in the browser from one of the menus along the top bar of your display, under names such as "Preferences" or "Internet Options". The most significant browser setting for this web site concerns the font size your browser uses for displaying web pages. If your browser's font size is set too large, then the left side menus with weather, avalanche, trail, etc., links in the "Weather Links" and "Access Links" sections of this site will look like a mess, and will be hard to use. If links in those menus don't line up properly, try decreasing the font size setting of your browser (you can always change it back, and other web sites may also look better, too). If your browser's font size is set too small, some of the text may be virtually unreadable.
