| Eight year old Katie hiked up to Camp Muir with her family and then skied down, enjoying some of the finest September skiing we've had for years. Five days earlier Katie and her family had done this same trip, but in a whiteout. Here is Katie's report. |
Katie's trip report
 | Today we climbed up to Camp Muir. Camp Muir is on the south side of Mt. Rainier at 10,000 feet. We hiked and climbed to get to Muir. At Muir some people get headaches. Last week we went in a whiteout. At Muir it was sunny but at Moon Rocks it was whiteout. I thought we might ski off into the Nisqually Glacier. We had to follow the wands to get down to Pebble Creek. My Dad had white eyelashes and my cousin's hair was white. When I stopped skiing it felt like I was still moving. But today was different. Yahoo! Ever heard, "If you ain't turnin you ain't learnin"? Well I was turnin! |
