Paradise Area, Mount Rainier, Washington
backcountry skiing and ski touring photos
Skiing trips from the Paradise area on the south side of Mount Rainier National Park encompass the entire range of styles of backcountry skiing: beginner cross country skiing tours, long backcountry skiing tours with plenty of turning, and pure randonnee skiing, telemark skiing, and snowboarding runs. In addition, the Paradise area has some of the easiest access, and smoothest, snow for summer into fall backcountry skiing.
Some of the areas of Mount Rainier accessible from Paradise include Panorama Point, the Muir snowfield, Camp Muir, Nisqually Chutes, Mazama Ridge, Paradise Glacier, Cowlitz Rocks, and the Tatoosh Range (Unicorn, Castle, Pinnacle, and Plummer Peaks). The photos in this gallery are from winter, spring, summer, and fall backcountry skiing trips to the Paradise area of Mount Rainier.
