If you plan on parking on AlpentalRoad to go sledding on the not for sledding hill, feel free to double park on either side of the road and don't worry about blocking the access to other drivers, one lane is plenty to get all that congestion thru.

Suggesting the eastbound I-90 on-ramp@the Hyak interchange. This afternoon, saw a huge crew parking on the on-ramp to sled in the median between the on-ramp and the freeway. Maybe 20 vehicles and ~75 people. Never seen this before.

Big party on Sunday at the lower lot. Grills & and kids sledding down the berm out into the lot. Lots of PIBs walking the middle of the road Saturday pm clutching their snowshoes. We need to spread notice that winter recreation isn't hip anymore.

I can only imagine how fun it must have been at mid-day this past week to try to drive either way on the road past the Kendall Knob/Lakes/Stump trailhead porta potties out toward Gold Creek/Rampart/Margaret parking. The holidaze hilarities were already bad there a decade ago; with the recent rush to the hills and all the social media posts touting Gold Creek "Lake" as a destination I'm thinking a LOT of brand new snowshoes headed that way after Xmas...

I've been thinking of spray painting "Free Parking 9a-4p" in my parking spot on days I drive elsewhere to ride. At least it would keep the berm at bay as the county tends to avoid plowing-in vehicles most days. Last time I checked, there are no restrictions on such activity by the HOA...

What time was it packed?Â I drove through Lot 4 in the early afternoon (around 2-ish) and it was half empty.Â Maybe it just emptied out early in the day - definitely a possibility with the skiing conditions on Saturday!

Yeah, the skinny ski lycra clad travelers tend to be dog free
