I remember reading the story about a guy getting buried "within sight of the parking lot". So I went looking for it.....
I am pretty sure this is it:

It made a big impression on me at the time because it was within my stomping grounds. I credit this story for being the basis of my caution on Rainier.

Yep, That's the one I remembered, too, Larry.
It also sounds to me like the same place.
Thanks for digging it up.

I remember that day pretty well. Jimeo and I were on our way to Muir when we finally decided to forego the pummeling and ski the lower slopes of Alta Vista towards Edith Creek. It was still very much white out conditions and after maybe our third or fourth run we decided to head home. Jimmy and I remember the deep slog back to the car and a couple times stopping thinking we heard cries for help. As much as we tried to focus in on what we thought we heard, after a few minutes, we weren't sure we heard anything and continued on to the car. A couple days later, Jimmy stumbled upon Luke's story. We then knew we must have heard their calls for help.
It was a spooky day in general as I remember this was also the day a newlywed couple was killed in their car on the road to Longmire by a falling tree.

That was nuts, Sam...that tree. We had two cars and one left and the other left a minute later. One car went through and the other didn't.
