Many different types of words and phrases can be used to search the skiing and snowboarding photo galleries. Some ideas are listed below.
- General location of ski trip, such as [Rainier], [Central Cascades], [Snoqualmie Pass], [Teanaway], or [Oregon];
- Specific location of ski trip, such as [Muir snowfield], [Ptarmigan Ridge], [Goat Rocks], [Earl Peak], or [Nason Creek];
- Specific month or season of ski trip, such as [January] or [summer];
- Type of skiing, such as [telemark], [randonnee], [snowboarding], [ski touring], [cross country], or [waxless];
- Many other keywords are stored in the search database.

Types of Searches
Performing a home page photo gallery search is similar to performing a typical web search:
- The default returns pages that include all search words;
- A preceding plus character includes a word:
Searching [Rainier+Paradise] will return pages which contain [Rainier] and also contain [Paradise]; this is the same as searching for [Rainier AND Paradise];
- A preceding minus character excludes a word:
Searching [Rainier-Paradise] will return pages which contain [Rainier] but do not contain [Paradise]; this is the same as searching for [Rainier NOT Paradise];
- The logical OR operator is supported:
Searching [Snoqualmie or Stevens] will return pages containing [Snoqualmie] and also pages containing [Stevens];
- Phrases are supported within double-quotes:
Searching ["corn snow skiing"] will return only pages which contain the entire phrase [corn snow skiing];
- The returned pages are ranked according to how often and where the search words occur.
